Today there is city power but not when you need it, like at
noon. The swamp cooler is empty and when
we get electricity we’ll turn on the pump and fill the thing with the hose that
sits under the barrel. Until then, it’s
a little bit of this, a visit to the cellar for a green tea with Fezel and a
fella who hangs around a lot, I’ll call him Simon here because he looks like
Paul Simon, and random tv watching, the tv is generated by the same ‘house
source’ that keeps the floor fan always running. Today is Afghanistan’s independence day, the
Amish are feuding and we’re all watching it, various music videos from
Turkmenistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
I showed the men my list of places I’d like to visit outside the Ayno
Meena sanctuary. Today is the day to do
it, even if I am not 100%? Ya, it’s hot
outside, too.
In Nepalese it’s ‘samyog’, in Turkish it’s
‘tesaduf’ and in Arabic it is ‘musadifa’.
I don’t know what the word is in Pashto but I’ll find out.
Fezel and I filled up the water cooler with two large buckets full
of water. As soon as Fezel said ‘full’
the city power came back on and the cooler fan roared and whirled . I laughed, he laughed and we shook
hands. Good timing. Especially when he told me the city power
would come on in three hours. No time is
better the present time, shabob.
How do you figure, John? It’s absurd to figure. Fezel pulled down a water bottle from one of
the top kitchen cabinets and the clear liquid smelled like furniture polish. He
said it was medicine from his home. I
poured a little bit into a mug and filled it with water. We will see.
My stomach is restless.
4.28pm
I finished my green tea just as two of the card players started
getting loud. Fezel cooked lunch for
some of his relatives and friends including a 50 year old midget and a large
man who asked if I had any other pains in my body. Aside from the stomach troubles I told him my
left knee gave me problems only when I sat in the yoga position. “You go to pharmacy?” No need, I have what I need. And I do.
The bread and noodles and an egg dish with tomatoes was accepted by
tired bowels. My prescription has been
simple, familar food and bottled water.
And some local organic medicine that is helping me relax.
7:25pm
A toasted peanut butter and banana sandwich went down
quickly. Should I eat another one? Don’t push it, anything, literally. I sit a mere eight feet from the swamp cooler
because I keep the pc plugged to the strip plug that has to be where it is
because there’s a small fridge also to my right, and the swamp cooler is
plugged there as well. In any case I
have to wear headphones to hear anything from this machine. I do long for the cool days. The nights are clear here, many stars can be
seen. A crescent moon rises in what
direction I don’t know, the west. Morning
sun comes in behind me, the east.
Summary: Coincidences seem to happen more
and more as one progresses on a spiritual path, and they arise from real
connections which are only known by non-conceptual awareness. We would have to
be fully enlightened to really understand them, but we can intuitively navigate
our way through life by recognising the auspicious signs of these connections as they manifest in
our lives.
Well, I think sometimes non-conceptual awareness is
what it takes to know who’s behind some coincidences. And I don’t understand all of the
coincidences I no longer keep track of but full enlightenment must have
occurred to some degree when I saw with my own eyes the entity-dude behind a
lot of them.
I recognize the auspicious and ambiguously auspicious and the ‘no
it looked auspicious, but it wasn’t auspicious at all’ kind. I’d just like to know if it means something other than what it
is at that moment. And what does this morning’s ridiculously
auspicious coincidence say? I was hot
and then I talked to Fezel and told him I wanted to fill the cooler. Together we filled two buckets, one he
carried from the toilet inside, and I carried the second full bucket from the
fish bank. And as soon as he covered the
lid and said full, the power came on.
Ha ha ha.
I have no control of city electricity.
But the spirits do, they got balls of omnipotent energy.
