It’s almost eight in the evening and today’s power has gone
off. I sit in the dark and measure for a
brief moment a time with words.
But wait, I’m being summoned for a meal
outside.
A friend of Saffiq brought chicken
biryani and big hamburgers from the Afghani Restaurant and Floora Juice and the
ten of us sat on the front grass and enjoyed the meal. Thanks, man, a half hamburger was good as was
the rice. Oh and a Mountain Dew. I drank that can too fast.
A night without the swamp cooler, the
windows are open, the door is open, bring in the dear sweet air. My headlamp is in ready mode. Listen to ‘Days of Future Passed’ and
consider all good.
I’m waiting.
I like the variety of flowers homeowners plant around
their huge extended family houses here.
Some day I’ll take my camera.
I have to reconfigure the syllabus. My ha ha toefl classes will now meet for 90
minutes, three times a week. In that 90
minutes men will leave the room for their obligated prayers two times. I’m ok with it.
Do you think they pray for help in
understanding this toefl class or is it a ritualistic prayer. In either case I’m all for prayer in school.
I thought flies sleep at night. They are buzzing my glowing screen. Good thought c’mon, flies are sentient
creatures too. Remember their place in
the food chain.
Next Wednesday is a public holiday. Not that I’m going anywhere. But I am thankful for all holidays.
All the light we cannot see is a very
engaging book. I wish I had more time to
read it. And it is giving me an idea
about a book. Oh Lord, I’d like to
accomplish something here. No ideas
without progressing, please.
No city power on Friday so I’ll do a wash tomorrow and
good thing. Eating with my right hand
leaves somewhat of a mess on my clothes.
What to do.
Jon Stewart interviewed Reza Azlan (?) a year or two ago (?) and
Stewart asked the question I’ve stopped asking:
Why hasn’t God put an end to the horrors we see every day? Too many are quick to dismiss any criticism
of how the Powers to be ought to be managing earth and its inhabitants a little
better. I remember the author saying the
majority of believers identify with their faith instead of believing in their
faith. It’s the ideologies of men
(mostly) who continue to fight like the animals beneath them. There’ll never be peace until the end is
here.
Amen, and ya, that is a positive thing
to say. Good night.
