I could do it.
60. New Zealand was the last habitable
land mass to be populated.
Is this really reason enough to move there? It was the last land mass to be populated
because it is further away from Europe than any other country, further away from most of everything. There is just something historically and mystically magnetic going on there.
Rezek is monitoring the use of solar and he told me the
water geyser should only be turned on when there is city electricity because
this machine is using up too much solar so I turned it off and I have to hope I
remember which day is city power day so I can have a hot shower, every other
day I guess, oh they keep telling me the cold is coming. I can hardly wait. The trouble will be inside, not outside and that
makes teeth chatter.
And then Fezel explained a few days ago that this
little fridge uses too much solar and ya know I don’t wanna live in the 19th
century, I want water cold, I like milk cold, anyways, the solar power was
turned on this afternoon and I saw the switch to the blue room was not turned
on, they don’t want me to use the fridge.
I want to use the fridge and I’ll fight to keep milk and water cold.
I have not read anything bad about this place. The least corrupt government in the
world. It is not overpopulated by any
stretch of the imagination. It is
clean. It is middle earth rocking
gorgeous.
I could do it.
I finally slept well after two difficult nights. The blue carpet is large and I now pace in
larger more monty python like circles.
My coordinator is aggressively looking at other jobs or
an additional part time job. Why
shouldn’t I listen to my restless spirit, is this place really necessary for
me? I am helping those who come, the
Toefl test is one cube in the bridge outta here. In this morning’s quite early class there is a
man who works with the UN and is eager to practice conversation English and I
am eager to meet his expectations so, the challenge is good for me, but come on
help me dude, a beer, a woman, ok, the pipe is hot and I am thankful for the
alterated perspectives on all things, though all things isn’t damn much at all
here. Please otherwise, I wander.
This afternoon’s goat skin legs lunch is so far the one
meal I have difficulty eating. It isn’t
like the kind of fat you eat from say a chicken it’s fat that is thick and very
tribal. But there were plenty of tomatoes
and onions and cucumbers and I made tiny sandwiches with the bread and squeezed
lemon on and it goes right into the big trapper because I only eat with men.
The solar finishes and my internet goes out. I only really mind this interruption if I am
in the social media matrix chatting when necessary.
I have to ask if we are getting less solar power
because of the winter months approaching.
Less strength of sun, perhaps though it’s still in the 90’s by afternoon
and bloody slow moving still to be done.
And today was an unfortunate exception, going from the cellar for making
copies, making changes, making more copies, making changes and going to the
classroom and someone twice moved the chairs from the oval I prefer back to the
standard rows. Leave my seats alone!!

8:19am—A six thirty rise and the
air is cool and silent, perfect mornings to listen to nothing and so we paced
on the carpet and read Harrer’s account of life in Llasa, an extraordinary
opportunity given to him and his Aufs mate.
A quick review of today’s lessons was also
accomplished, the four pm class requires planning for there are ten year olds
sitting next to 35 year olds, an odd combination, you think? the kid needs lollipops and the 35 year old
is content to sit and observe. What kind
of lesson addresses both, it’s making me work, which is ok most of the
time. Next week I would like to
integrate some of the video exercises into either the 4our or Seven am including
a Walter Mitty clip.
So, did you have any interesting theological
discussions with yourself in the pacing circle?
Yes, but I’m already forgetting them as I sit here. Oh yes.
Internal Revelation
External Revelation
Middle Revelation
A review of the general ways in which divinity has made
contact with humanity. I remember
reading this in an academic journal I stumbled across at a San Diego library one
afternoon and it made perfect sense. The obvious question is, I guess,
why? That is a good question.
Anything else?
Today is supposed to be city power day but there’s nothing. I have
to turn on the water heater, anything else right now, no. The fridge is safe today from the solar conservatives.
Last night Saffi showed me how all the energy sources
are connected and how the hired men have to make numerous switches in the direction
of the currency. When city power comes,
the light will go on and a switch will have to be made next to the light and
then they have to go up to the classroom floor and switch plugs from the solar
batteries and ya da, I wish he had a flashlight when he explained this to
me.
