9am-The Chinese six are well
behaved, I’ll say nothing more about them.
Large smatterings of fog above and below fill the landscape. Today is a festival of sorts where men
replace the gold string they wear across their chests. Laxman and Maya will go to her parent’s home
for the ‘ceremony’. Maya asked me to
keep an eye on the place while they are gone but there is the top to visit in a
few minutes and a visit to the descendant of the high priest for a chat with
his daughter.
I think Suman can do an excellent job managing the
guesthouse and he is a good cook.
2:39pm
I walk by the Mountain View, look up and say hello to
Ram ‘Salaam Alaykum’ and he responds in return and then a tourist, and a rather
obtruding one he was blurted out I shouldn’t use another religion’s greeting
when you’re not a believer and I reminded him quite quickly that it is language
not religion we speak, peace be unto you is not a copyrighted phrase in Quranic Arabic
is it? And he wanted to ask another
question but there would be none of that and I left him with a masalama.
Was I rude? So
I’m sitting on the bed in room five when Maya leads this very regrettable to
room six and I can’t have done that much wrong, Lord.
Yesterday Krishna the temple at the top caretaker said
come around 9am tomorrow for puja. I
walked past the temple entrance at 9.20am and it was locked. I saw him later on the road and showed him
the gold saffron twine on my right wrist.
From Beem.
A variety of fog has taken stage so far all day and
when the sun did rip through it was nasty hot.
Ram is cleaning my bathroom, it’s been a while so I’m letting him. I think he is also under Maya’s command to
clean my bathroom. And he is going to
clean my floor despite me saying no, though if he can get up that wax near the
door that would be good.
6.08pm
There is a super moon tonight and no one will see it
here unless the heavy fog blows outta here.
Ram is showing the rooms. Is Maya
not here? Laxman hasn’t returned. Should I go up? Would Maya really leave the place with
Ram? Well you didn’t tell her you went
to the Himalayan View Guesthouse for the afternoon tea.
I believe all the rooms are full and I am the only one
who isn’t Nepalese. It must be the
holidays. The guests are ordering their
dinner now and am I hungry? I should be.
9.51pm
Suman and I looked at the application process for
Harvard College. You must have ‘special
talents’….What are your special talents?
Ans…I built an actual size replica of the spruce goose on the mountain. Unfortunately my camera broke.
The young pimpy man sings to his girlfriend on the
balcony outside room six. Best of luck
to you. Suman is sleeping in the large
bed because his family are all itching and they don’t know what to do other
than isolate him. He slept in room seven
last night. Yes, I slept in room eight
for five months, the green wasn’t as green then as it is now. They are singing together. Where’s the rain when you need it?
