I gave the two remaining students from the morning
class an easy test and then we watched 45 minutes of ‘Enemy of the State’ with
subtitles. At breakfast there was
serious conversation on the nature of the beard. This was provoked when I was told Qaism had
his beard trimmed because his wife objected to something I don’t want to
consider. And then I returned to the
room and without city, solar or generator energy watch the battery line ebb,
do a little pacing, read some Hosseini, smoke a cigarette, and surf an
under powered web.
Adductor magnus. This appears to be the muscle that is giving
me problems after sitting yoga for more than 20 minutes. And it’s only in this position that I have
trouble. What kind of stretching can I
do for these muscles. If one accidently tears on a cold night in the desert…you’d
better pack something strong with you.

Always in my head. What do you think he is singing about? What do they call that when a sentence has
multiple meanings? The thought of a
woman is always in his head. Memories
always remain in my head.
Anything else? A
couple of allegorical examples from the prayers of Christianity are coming to
mind.
“you’ve been chosen out from the rest” Is Chris still singing about the girl? Sure, why not.
Ok, I waited a long time to go on here, say it, what’s
the connection between this and his song 42? Enough said.
The link to the bank here finally came
and when I got to the international transfer site, the fields wouldn’t take
information. I’ll try tomorrow. And the next day. Wednesday begins a three day holiday. I gotta get out of the neighborhood for a few
hours, buy some fruit, see something historical.
The woman returned again to the toefl class. The first time I met her we had a deep look
into each other’s eyes and now I look at her only when she is not looking. Why?
What did I see I don’t know but I do know someone else knows and the
decision has been made.
I’m glad I’m learning this toefl stuff. It may come in handy and it’s nice to put
something different, finally, on the overwhelmingly similar life summary
sheet.
Listen to your soul.
Sounds 1967, how do you know it’s your soul and not someone else’s soul
casually flitting through your memories.
Always alive we are, aren’t we? Fly on right through.
Flock of birds.
The soul of Jesus.
The spirit of Jesus. We’ll say
they are the same, right? You can’t limit
the interpretation of metaphors to one meaning.
I think, on this Labor Day, I’ve nothing to be ashamed
about the work I’ve done here. I find
the Afghan men in my classes to be exceptionally bright with excellent English
to speak of everything I could never speak about in a class of pretty and sweet
but completely clueless girls on the other side of the pond. Tonight we talked about the ‘smart drug’
whose name escapes me now, ha ha, and how the US govt put the ok approved stamp
on it and college students across the country are taking this to help them
focus on school work.
Teacher, will this drug help me take the toefl?
Teacher, tell me when you’re going to the US.
Teacher, bring me back some.
We can do some swapping perhaps. Sorry I can’t bring back that much. I mean I could, if there’s a will there’s a
way.
If
there’s a will there’s a way
on this Monday Labor Day
stay
away from the fray
you got
something to say
Neigh
There’s
no way to weigh
or slay
to keep
away
may you
pray
in
dismay
for an
end
to our
Labor
