God's answer to Job

11.11pm

I am my own worst enemy.  Who can argue with that?  Isn’t it true for everyone, by degree at least.

I did see Manhattan but I forgot all but the fact that a Hemingway was in it.  Beautifully shot film though I am curious, in all the panoramic views of the city I did not see the world trade centers.  Was this version I downloaded edited by someone?  Seriously, the two buildings are not in the movie.

With the windows open on a mix of sun and spit I struck a line through my list to get done today and Fezel’s oldest boy Waliki took to playing badminton but not to coloring mandalas though the book has been taken home I think.  I was wondering who I’d leave that book with, it’s been decided I guess.

I have six classes left this coming week, three morning conversation and three afternoons and that is it and me is wondering if this will be the last time I teach in Kandahar.  No time for sentimentalism, I went up to the roof this afternoon for some cool desert breezes  and a ring of various post storm clouds and didn’t stick around for the sunset.  Nope, not today,  I was a bit surprised at my dismissal but we were tired and there’s nowhere up there to sit where my head’d be low enough and out of range of someone’s crosshairs.

“You know what you are? You're God's answer to Job, y'know? You would have ended all argument between them. I mean, He would have pointed to you and said, y'know, "I do a lot of terrible things, but I can still make one of these." You know? And then Job would have said, "Eh. Yeah, well, you win."  woody allen

My lower back could use some stretching.  Helicopters buzz overhead with lazy puffy post post storm clouds keeping the blue room slightly chilled this Saturday morning.  Doesn’t being on the beach sound like a nice place to be right now in the middle of March?  Thailand is very nice in March.

There’s a lot to do but I am slow to start.  A class in progress upstairs, Rezek is buzzing around cleaning things, people in the office and my door is wide open.

“You are the nicest egomaniac I’ve ever met”

I got used to having the room light on at night  and I use the laptop’s light to look at the book for tomorrow’s lesson.  I asked Hanukkah to turn on the generator so I could use the kitchen and for dinner, two eggs and toast with so so apple jam and a black tea followed by another black tea, toasted pound cake and yet another tea, oh here comes  a thermos and the generator is turned off.  Multiple cloudy days makes solar energy obsolete.  What?  No cloud panels?  they have to give us something aside from rain.  Ok.  Nice photos.
