a 1001 thank you's

I tell ya what I like about the Afghans and Clinton and Trump:  whatever, they say.  Miserably huge problems in this land-locked country eclipse the unfortunate spectacle back home.  We got six months to consider very disconcerting events, perhaps someone else will join the fracas because right now I’d vote for Sanders, even as a write in candidate but will that vote help or hurt either of these two…be civil…I’ve changed the word a dozen times, I am at a loss right now.

It is a beautiful morning at nine am, my laundry is finished, my grading is complete, I am hedging closer to checking out the cellar in this building, it wouldn’t hurt at all to break a sweat pumping some iron or walking/running.  We’ll see.

I’m putting off H is for Hawk for now and have started a book I found in Kandahar’s Bush Bazaar:  Bible Basics for Catholics:  A new picture of Salvation History.  Written by John Bergsma out of Steubenville, I hope to understand Salvation History from a charismatic Catholic.  I first learned of SH from Dan Lewis, a pastor in Troy and instructor some times at Tyndale.  I believe it was from this view of the Bible that an Augustine church in Goa was burned to the ground.  What’s the major points in this book I will relate here when I read it.  Until then, I should walk around.

I made a reservation to fly to Amman on the 27th this month and I have 24 hours to buy the ticket before it is cancelled.  Twenty four hours to consider crossing the border to the holiest city on earth.  Jerusalem.  Can I call it a pilgrimage?  Yes, but of course.  I have visited the holy power points in India and Nepal and the Virgin Mary’s resting place in Turkey but Jerusalem, this is the place and of course I have a lot of questions.

7:45am—I ran and walked the incline on the treadmill for 15 minutes and then did five on the stationary bicycle and broke a sweat.  Nice.  When Roshan finishes I can do this every morning, ok?  That would be good.

I read three chapters of SH and the author has reviewed the first four covenants in the old testament.  I see the pattern here.  Promises made by God to his faulty chosen ones, simple, normal humans who kept blowing it.  The author even stated those 600 plus commandments given to Moses after the first ten weren’t so bright.  God wasn’t bright?  The laws were, are, oppressive and no one has been able to follow them to the letter because humanity isn’t exactly made in the image of God though you could say God made some questionable laws, fallible mistakes perhaps like his creation?

I have three hours to purchase the ticket or I lose it.  Should I wait another week, what if the price goes up, that’s most likely.  I know if I buy it now something is going to happen that will make me question if I ought to go.  Oh such great faith when God is silent I am sure of that.  Well?  I got two hours.

Another splendid morning, such a waste to be inside, but what to do out there, sigh.

I didn’t buy it.  Sigh part two.

3:36pm—I wiped down the desks, the glass table next to the bed, the dresser and the bathroom sink while throwing away anything that no longer had value, a good tidying on a warm afternoon.  I wish there was a ceiling fan in here, it’s warm but not warm enough to turn the a/c on.  What to do but remain calm.

I posted seven new/old poems and it would be nice before I depart from this spinning globe if I could gather at least 25-30 poems and get them published, even if I self-published them, right?  A cousin in Chicago has done just that so I know it’s not impossible.  I kind of like these I posted though in revision the dates were updated, most were written between 2005-2009.

Well you’re ready for tomorrow, the beginning of the end at Roshan.  Yes please I am ready to get this over with.

8:23pm—The evenings are comfortably cool, it is ideal for walking outside but the threat of being kidnapped or mugged robs me of my freedom to enjoy nature.  How could I stay another year in conditions like this?  While I feel bad for the Afghan who has no hope in seeing his nation turn itself around at least he can take a walk and smell the flowers.  Smell the flowers while you can my friends.

Happy mothers day tomorrow, Mom.  I'm sure you saw the story about the boy and the bear sculpture that was at Northland Mall was today taken to its new home at the Southfield Library.  I thought of you when a few people there for the installation of this venerable piece of history was placed in its position inside.

And I thank you for giving me the gift of reading.  What would I do if I didn't read, what would I do if I couldn't read?  A thousand and one thank you's.
